DAY 1: LORD, MY CONFIDENCE IS IN YOU

by Pastor Heiden Ratner

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” – Hebrews 11:1 ESV

DEVOTION

In 2015 Neena and I had a strong sense of calling to start a new church in Las Vegas, NV. Together, we believed God was calling us to something bigger than ourselves. Something only He could get the credit for. And although we didn’t have church planting experience, a team, money, or a location yet, we believed that where God guides, God provides. His past faithfulness assured us that we could trust Him in our present circumstances. We were not only sure of His ability, but we had the conviction that He would do what He said and build His church (Matthew 16:18).

Several years later, through many hills and valleys, we look back at all God has done and can’t help but give Him the praise and glory. It all started with faith!

Let me now ask you: What are you believing God for? What God-sized dream is in your heart? The author of Hebrews reminds us that faith is the assurance (or confidence) of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen. Faith doesn’t wait for all the evidence to believe then; that’s called control. Faith steps out; believing God in Himself is all the evidence we need. So, today I encourage you to take a step of faith. Confident in His ability and hopeful for new things to come.

“True faith is neither brainless nor a sentimental feeling. It is a solid conviction resting on God’s words that makes the future present and the invisible seen.” – R. Kent Hughes

PRAYER

Father, today I put my faith in You. I let go of my desire to control things and surrender my will for Yours. I release my fear and trade it for faith. I’m confident in Your love for me, and rest in Your faithfulness. As I follow You today, Help me along the way. In Jesus’ name, amen!
