The amount of faith Joseph had at the end of his life was not only compelling but convicting. He had learned to trust the hand of God in every season. 

At the young age of 17, when he was wrongfully betrayed by his brothers and sold into slavery, the Lord was with him. When he was taken to Egypt as a servant and accused of a crime he never committed, the Lord was with him (Gen. 39:2-3). After spending upwards of a decade in prison, the Lord was with him and gave him success and favor with the warden (Gen. 39:21-23). Finally, after interpreting Pharaoh’s dream, not only was the Lord with him, but promoted him to a leadership position over the entire land of Egypt (Gen. 41:39-41). From the pit to the palace, Joseph could trace the hand of God! 

Now, at the end of his life, we find Joseph prophetically declare what’s to come. The exodus out of Egypt and onward to the promise land. Although Joseph didn’t know Moses personally, he knew God, and that the Lord would be faithful to his promise. Not only was Joseph confident it would happen, he bet his bones on it! Even though he was nearing death, he wanted whatever was left of him to make it to the next chapter of God’s grace —by faith. 

You may currently be in a season that looks bleak and not promising. Joseph was too—on more than one occasion. But he learned to trust God’s timing and plan by faith. Be encouraged, in the Lord, there are better days ahead! 

“Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will do it.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:24 NASB 

Father, thank You for waking me up today and giving me another invitation to follow You. Help me to see Your steadfast love and faithful hand in this season. Even through the trials I look forward with faith. Fill me with Your Spirit and anoint my steps. I’m confident—in You—there are better days ahead. In Jesus’ name, amen!
