DAY 8: THE BLESSED LIFE
by Pastor Heiden Ratner
Sep. 8th, 2025
“Blessed is the one who fears the LORD always, but whoever hardens his heart will fall into calamity.” – Proverbs 28:14
DEVOTION
One of the biggest lies from Satan is that the closer you get to God, the less happy you’ll be. Nothing could be further from the truth. The reality is this: the more you know God and walk in a real and right relationship with Him, the more blessed you become. Jesus doesn’t save us into boredom—He saves us into blessing (Matthew 5:3–12).
The word “blessed” in Hebrew is ’ešer, which means “happy.” You could read Proverbs 28:14 this way: “Happy is the one who fears the Lord always…” Did you know God is actually for your happiness? In His presence there is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11), and in the fear of the Lord there is Christlike happiness.
Instead of fearing what might happen if you fully surrender to God, renew your mind with the truth of His goodness and His ability to pour blessing into your life. Notice the key word: always. The fear of the Lord isn’t a one-time thing or something we do only when we feel spiritual. It’s a daily posture—a lifestyle, a mindset—that God continually blesses.
So today, don’t harden your heart toward the Savior. That path only leads to a fall. Instead, ask the Holy Spirit to soften your heart and shape you into the disciple He created you to be. He’s the Potter, we are the clay (Isaiah 64:8). Moment by moment, He is molding us into His masterpiece—a work that only He can get the glory for. And as He shapes us, we experience His blessing (Ephesians 2:10).
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.” – Ephesians 1:3
PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your sanctifying work in my life. Please keep shaping me into the image of Your Son, Jesus. Soften my heart and teach me to walk in the fear of the Lord—not sometimes, but always. I want to live in the fullness of the blessed life You’ve promised, in Jesus’ name, amen.
CHALLENGE
Write down three specific ways God has blessed you this week. Thank Him for each one, and then ask Him to help you live in the fear of the Lord always.
